1980's Alvarez pot with 1960's Gibson RB-250 Neck
Alvarez was one of the better Asian banjo makers from the late 1970's into the 1980's. Someone put a 1960's RB-250 neck on it prior to my owning it. I replaced the Alvarez resonator with a Gibon style resonator, replaced the armrest to match as well, and also put a frosted Remo Weatherking head on it. This was my stage banjo for a couple of years. VVery tight Gibson sound.
- Multiply thin rim - similar to RB-250s of that era.
- Gibson RB-250 neck - pretty worn but plays well
- Bronze tone ring
- Remo Weatherking head
- Compensated no name bridge
- Adjustable truss rod

This is a hybrid banjo that plays as well as any Gibson RB-250 for a lot less money.
